We are deep into the start of a week of celebrations here at Holy Name Passionist Retreat Center. Yesterday we celebrated with the incredible staff here. They are such an amazing group of God loving and industrious people. It is a joy and a gift to work with them. Tonight, we have the volunteer and board celebration. More amazing people, always willing to give back to the Lord the gifts that he has given to each of them. They make me want to be a better person, to give more, to share more, to be more.
Isn’t that what the Advent season is all about? Sharing, not just with our families but with everyone we come in contact with. While I was praying my morning prayers before a busy day here at the retreat center, the Holy Spirit dropped this thought. ‘Just pray for everyone I put in front of you today’. Of course, I was thinking of the retreatants that would be arriving, but later I realized, no, this was the lady working at the Target, the homeless man at my window, the people on the freeway that God put in front of me. They need us to share just a little bit of ourselves with them.
Our Savior shared ALL of Himself with us, a personal gift of Himself. If we are to live like Him, we are to give of ourselves, personally, to each person we meet. For, “it is in giving that we receive.”
This is the Joy of the Season!
