Here it is, the beginning of December in the most unusual of Years.  It seems to me it has been a year of waiting, waiting for the ‘numbers’ to get smaller, the vaccine to come, waiting for the world to get back to ‘normal’.

The Pandemic has touched us here at Holy Name Passionist Retreat Center in many ways, yet we persist. Our God is bigger than any pandemic. Our God is Omnipotent. We trust in that.

We continue as St. Augustine would encourage to: “Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on us”.  So, we keep working…and praying!

The staff here at Holy Name Passionist Retreat Center is second to none. Their love of this place keeps them coming back day after day with a smile on their faces. COVID protocols mean our housekeeping staff is working extra long hours to keep things cleaner than ever before. Our smaller team works harder keeping things distanced, numbered, and sanitized. Each member of the staff is a great blessing to the Retreat Center and its mission. As it says in Isaiah 40:31, “They who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

Thank you to all of you who helped us exceed our goal for that gala. That was an incredible show of support, and we are abundantly grateful!

As we step into 2021 with the Pandemic still affecting the retreat numbers, we once again, in absolute humility, ask for more help. Will you help us to make it over this pandemic disruption of our normal operations so that our children and grandchildren will have a place to come and encounter God through our programs?  Every ‘mite’ helps; even the smallest donations collected together make a difference.

As we await the coming of our Lord this advent, may you find JOY in the waiting, Joy in the ways that this Christmas season is not ‘normal’. May the Lord abundantly bless you and yours, may He keep you safe and healthy until we see each other in person again.

Thank you in advance for your love of this place.
