Nicholas Divine, CP. is a Passionist priest. Nicholas is from Old Ward Four, a traditional Polish American Catholic neighborhood in Holyoke, MA. After receiving a B.A. Philosophy degree from nearby St. Hyacinth College, Granby, MA, and a M.A. Theology degree from Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Cromwell, CT., Nicholas taught religious studies, creative writing, poetry, and humanities in both Catholic and public schools for 18 years. Post September 11th, Nicholas served God and Country in the United States Army for eight years. Shortly after his return home, Nicholas was hired to serve as campus minister of Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School in Birmingham, AL where he met and worked with the Passionist Fathers and Brothers. He entered the Passionist postulancy program housed at Holy Name Passionist Community in 2014 which prepared him well for the 2015 -2016 Novitiate at Christ the King Retreat, Citrus Heights, CA. In May 2019, he graduated from the Catholic Theological Union, Chicago, receiving M. Divinity degree while serving in local parishes. He was ordained a deacon on September 26, 2020 in Chicago, at St. Clare of Montefalco Chapel. On March 7, 2021, he was ordained a priest in the chapel of Holy Name Passionist Retreat Center. Nicholas enjoys playing ice hockey, canoeing and writing. He has one full length comedy play, “Right Angles”, published as a book in July 2018. Nicholas’ heart is humbled and joyful to be joining the team at Holy Name Passionist Retreat Center as the Director of Ministry to the glory of God and in service to God’s people.
